Joke Robaard, Giene Steenman

The Museum for Modern Art Arnhem is the site of an exhibition created by artist/researcher Joke Robaard in collaboration with artist/observer Giene Steenman. Together, they have built an ongoing archive that can best be described as an editorial construction – a spatial lexicon around words such as ‘coat’, ‘scarf’, ‘sock’ and ‘parka’.

Entitled Get Real/Real Self, the exhibition can be seen as an attempt to show the garment as a mediator between private and public culture, in ways that open up new meanings and possibilities both visually and intellectually.
