His Royal Highness Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands opened the exhibition ‘The Prince and the City - Willem V in Amsterdam’ at the Royal Palace Amsterdam. With this exhibition the Palace relived the greatest reception of the eighteenth century. From 30 May to 4 June 1768, Amsterdam's city council received Stadholder William V, Prince of Orange-Nassau and his wife Wilhelmina, Princess of Prussia, in the city hall, now the Royal Palace. The monumental city hall gained regal allure for a while. This mutually significant meeting is the focus of the exhibition.

At the heart of the exhibition is the encounter between the most powerful person and the most powerful city in the country—a story of royal and political spectacle leading up to a turbulent time.

For the posters, we were inspired by historical drawings from that era. By blending past and present, we illustrate the evolution of the Palace
